1 Corinthians 7:1-40 (KJV)

Note: Here in verses 1 thru 6, explains itself so we will begin at Vs. 7 Paul is teaching here how the husband and wife should related to each other and also the benefit of remaining unmarried if possible.

We do however explain “Fornication” which bible interpretations of the word seem to suggest it means, sexual whoredom including adultery. IT is illicit sex which means ungodly sex.

Let us look at (Lev. 19:29) and (Gen. 38:24) This was Judah 4th son of Jacob, tricked by his dead son’s wife having child by her: Scripture teaches strongly against fornication and harlotry and we witness now with all the fatherless and homeless children why; Trouble in land today is largely because it is full as (Lev. 19: 29 ) says of children of illicit sex.

Looking at another father’s son killed by police, oh they killed my baby boy, where where you while boy was where  he should not have been ? Sons were given to  married women  to stall a land of whoredom and sex with not responsibility.

Let us go to Verse 7

1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
5 Defraud ye not one the other, (fail to provide each others needs)except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. (Unmarried)But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. See (Ephes. 5:5)
10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: (Mat. 5:31,32)
11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. Note: This teaches of the oneness of husband and wife…and God’s blessing to one who serves him. See (Acts 16:31) This does not apply to the unequally yoked (Married) for in this situation one “An unbeliever” does not want to be a part of God’s blessing to the house.(2 Cor. 6:14)
But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? Note: This comes by the  promise of God, that unsaved husband or wife will become saved by God’s promise to the believing counterpart.
17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk.  (7:24)And so ordain I in all churches.
18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.
20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.
22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.
23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God. Note: many of the church do not understand or have not read this scripture, for many churches today believe must be married to pastor a church, This has brought about the husband and wife pastor-ship. They seem to have forgotten (Verses 7& 9) and turn with me to (verses 32,33) While Husband and wife share as one, they are not one and the same, but each has their God-given place and purpose. A wife is not called to preach because her husband it anymore than a precher is called to be a virtuous woman of the house.
25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. (Gen.3:16)
29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; (Mark 12:25)30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; ( Rev. 21:5)
31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. Note we need not deny ourselves of all pleasure the world affords but not abusing our privilege. (Col. 2:21)
32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. Note: Although Marriage is honorable in all, the unmarried can devote more of their time to the work of God.
34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.
36 But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.
37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.
38 So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better.
39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. Note: Paul suggests she would be happier remaning unmarried.

Bible lesson for the virus scare

Psalm 32:1-11 (Sun. March 22,2020)

This word today from our Lord God is a proper follow up from last Sun. wherein we were given great confidence in this time of trouble in the nation from Ps 91

Listen as God speaks to us thru his servant David.

Let use for subject that seems to fit the text: Is your heart right with God?
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (covered by the blood)
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, (going the way of unrighteousness) and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Guile beloved is the spirit of fraud and hypocrisy which should not be found in the spirit of the Godly. Each one us must ask self “If my heart right with God:?
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring (My restlessness) all the day long.
4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

Selah represents it is said a musical pause, which today we call musically a “Rest” or interlude. But Martin Luther taught it is to be silent and reflect carefully what the verse is saying. That is certainly a good use of the word “Selah”

Now David said:The hands of God’s correction was so heavy his moisture is as the drought of summer, in other words: His soul was like a dry dessert flower in need of refreshing rain.

5 I acknowledged (David said), my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

David here makes a difference between sin and iniquity. There are various meanings given to word “Iniquity” but all mean “wickedness”which tells us all sin is sin but not all sins equal, That is why the bible teaches the “It is the Wicked that shall perish”

Recalling here his grievous sin of adultery and murder, he tells of how with blessed assurance, he had sought forgiveness and had been forgiven and now speaks words of wisdom to you and I, saying to forgiven and Godfearing man
6 That every one that is godly pray unto God in a time when he mayest be found: for surely even in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Him that trusts in the Lord.

Oh, we live in such a time…when our only hope is “Trust in the Lord”
7 I’m not worried, I’m not afraid David said for: “Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about (your arms are all around me with songs of deliverance. Selah. Think about it!

Notice now how the Lord himself speaks thru David prophetic song:

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Oh, to be guided by the eyes of God….that’s why we sing…walk on by faith in God each day, for he is able to carry the load and can “SEE” way down the road..

He will guide me with His eyes…..those eyes that is on the sparrow and I….I…I…Know.!!!

9 Now Hear God! don’t be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

Those of the country know a untamed horse will bite you. Don’t let the Lord have to bridle you like a dumb Ass. Xcuse me…to make you behave.
10 Many sorrows David concludes, shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. ….Don’t have ask me why I trust in God…wherever I may be ..for his mercy is all around me, before me, behind me….so yes, I will trust him.

11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Let me close with this question: My beloved “Is your heart right with God, have you been washed in the crimson flow…are you cleansed and made holy , humble and lowly….is your heart right….

If heart’s right have nothing to fear…just go on and praise him…for praise he sings in next Psalm…praise is becoming for the upright.

How can I not praise him for all he’s done for me…etc.

Every now and then..just have to hold my mule while I shout….for I sing because I’m happy…because free His eye is on the Sparrow and I know…need not ask nobody, I know

Storms of life may be raging..but I know

Strong winds may be blowing…but I know

Killer virus may be all around…but I know

Like Job, I know ….My redeemer lives

I know..He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers or sleeps but Eyes on the sparrow
